Ties and Roots is a project led by ACRE in the Polígono Norte district of Seville, aimed at preventing sexual violence against children and adolescents in contexts of high social vulnerability. Developed between April 2025 and June 2026, it stems from a strong commitment to a protected childhood and an empowered youth.

Context and Institutional Support

This project is part of the European programme DAPHNE Grants – ChildHub, coordinated by the ChildHub initiative and supported by the European Union’s CERV programme. It provides microgrants (ranging from €10,000 to €30,000 per project, with an estimated duration of 12–18 months) to strengthen local civil society actions in nine European countries, including Spain.

The specific profile of the project is available on the ChildHub platform under the title Ties and Roots: Preventing sexual violence against children and adolescents.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s CERV programme under Grant Agreement No 101138279, through the Daphne-CHILD programme with Eurochild and Terre des hommes.

Central Participants

The project places young women who have aged out of the child protection system at its core. These young women are supported through ACRE’s residential programmes and trained as community-based prevention agents. Their key role as mentors and reference figures reinforces both the impact and sustainability of the intervention.

In addition, the project directly involves 50 professionals, staff, and volunteers, who will receive specific training on how to prevent and respond to situations of sexual violence in their work with children and adolescents.

Planned Lines of Action

  • Prevention: Workshops on sexual violence prevention and safe internet use for children and adolescents.
  • Awareness-raising: Campaigns carried out in schools and on social media platforms.
  • Training: Capacity-building for young volunteers and the delivery of continuous training programmes for staff and volunteers working with children.
  • Support: Guided peer support groups.
  • Safe Spaces: Establishment of Violet Points at local events.
  • Inclusive Communication: Development of multilingual and accessible educational materials.

Methodological Approach

The project applies an intersectoral and participatory perspective, using active methodologies and accessible tools. It is grounded in a community-based approach that aims to strengthen mutual care networks, protection mechanisms, and collective resilience in Polígono Norte.

Expected Impact

The project reinforces ACRE’s territorial strategy in the area by expanding existing initiatives and weaving new protective and collaborative networks. Its experience is also shared at the European level through the DAPHNE Grants – ChildHub programme, contributing to a multiplier effect among other similar initiatives.

Three young women smile and chat while looking at something on a tablet or notebook, sitting together in a cozy and well-lit setting. They convey a sense of closeness, trust, and mutual understanding.
