SERENA is a psychosocial intervention program aimed at families in situations of high social vulnerability facing crisis, conflict, and family violence, especially towards children and adolescents. Its goal is to eradicate all forms of violence (physical, verbal, emotional, or neglect), promote secure bonds, and strengthen nurturing environments from a humanistic, systemic, and gender-based approach.

It is implemented in priority neighborhoods of Seville — Polígono Norte, El Cerezo, San Jerónimo, Cerro-Amate, and El Vacie — areas with high rates of social exclusion where Acercando Realidades has a strong track record and solid community partnerships.

The program offers a personalized itinerary for each family, integrating systemic psychotherapy sessions, positive parenting training, group workshops, peer support through resilience tutors, and active coordination with schools, social services, and local organizations. All of this follows a therapeutic parenting model, aimed at healing attachment wounds, promoting non-violent communication, and supporting healthy emotional and relational development in childhood.

SERENA is based on an innovative methodology, supported by evidence and an ethical commitment to children’s rights. It is committed to prevention, accompaniment, and social transformation in contexts where rebuilding family and community bonds is essential to ensuring child well-being.

Lines of intervention:

  • Therapeutic accompaniment for individuals and families, from a respectful and understanding perspective.
  • Educational intervention to strengthen positive relationships, parenting, and family skills.
  • Group and community activities to improve emotional well-being, build support networks, and reduce social isolation.

SERENA combines psychological, educational, and community-based support, promoting processes of emotional healing, family strengthening, and the full protection of childhood. All of this is guided by the ACRE model, with a humanistic approach, gender perspective, trauma sensitivity, and network-based work.
